Building Community

This week I’m starting a series about building community in a new location. I have contacted some of my very favorite people to share their stories with you. These ladies have found themselves in the position of moving and needing to re-establish roots for themselves and their families.

Here is Curious Girl looking at the new school just before we went in to register them:

We all have children of different ages, and we all moved due to our spouses’ jobs. Some of the challenges seem to be similar. We want to prepare our children before the move, and then help them get established in the new place. We all have challenges with finding friends in the new location. We all miss the old location at some point (some of us go back to visit). We all have found some beautiful things about our new homes. The locations we have gone to are quite different and yet some themes emerge no matter where you go.

I hope you will connect with some of these ladies and relate to the stories they will share with us.
